Helping in the Wake of the Quake was organized to support Heartland Alliance. Heartland Alliance advances the human rights and responds to the human needs of endangered populations--particularly the poor, the isolated, and the displaced--through the provision of comprehensive and respectful services and the promotion of permanent solutions leading to a more just global society.
Mission to Haiti
Heartland Alliance (@heartlandhelps), a national not-for-profit based locally, has established an emergency fund to assist survivors of the devastating January 12 earthquake in Haiti. A Heartland Alliance team will be leaving early next week to participate in on-the-ground assessments and in planning emergency responses with governmental, international, and community groups. Heartland Alliance's focus is on three major areas: immediate protection services, short and long term psychosocial services, and health care. Beside the Red Cross, Heartland Alliance is working with and with support by American Jewish World Service (AJWS), Eritaj Foundation, CHF International, Partners in Health, Our Little Brothers and Sisters (Nos Petites Freres et Soeurs), KONPAY, LAMBI Fund, Mouvman Peyizan Rankit (MPR), Mouvman Peyzan Bayone 2eme Section Communale des Gonaives (MPB), Oganizasyon Gwoupman Peyizan pou Devlopman 8eme Seksyon Kominal Akaye (OPD8), Movimiento Social-Cultural de los Trabajadores Haitianos (MOSCTHA), Movimiento de Mujeres Dominico Haitiana (MUDHA), Red de Encuentro Dominico Haitiano- Jacques Viau (REDH-JV).
